Strong Foundations for Every Student
Too many children in our community are struggling to read and keep up academically—and too often, those struggles go unnoticed until it is much harder to help. As a result, many students are falling behind when they need support the most.
As a special education teacher, I have seen firsthand the lifelong impact when early intervention comes too late. A child who is not reading proficiently by third grade faces significant barriers throughout their education. This is not acceptable for our students or our community.
I am committed to strengthening early literacy by supporting proven, phonics-based reading programs and ensuring that struggling students receive timely tutoring and intervention before they fall behind. I also believe parents deserve clear, honest information—school-by-school data that is transparent and accessible—so they can make informed decisions about their child’s education.
Student success should not be defined by a single path. I will advocate for strong career and technical education programs that prepare students for college, skilled trades, healthcare, technology, and other in-demand careers. Every student deserves a clear and achievable path forward.
Every child in Lee County deserves the opportunity to read, write, think critically, and succeed in a competitive world.
